The First Phone Call from Heaven "What is false about hope?"
Stunning, page turner, a type of book that will make you lose track of time, and in every page will make you wonder "what's next?".
Mitch Albom's "The First Phone Call from Heaven" will make each reader question themselves about the existence of heaven. Does it exist? Is life after death possible? is the end really not the end?
I personally find myself patiently read the few next pages warily, reading word per word wondering if my accusations about the characters are truly right and that goes to you too if you found yourself sucked on to Albom's work as how I was.
This is a story of few people living in Coldwater, Michigan in the outskirts of Detroit, where 9 people had claimed to receive a phone call from heaven. 8 deceased people are said to have communicated to their chosen ones among these people are Anesh Barua who had claimed to communicate with his deceased daughter, Eddie Douken's who had talked to his ex-wife, Jay James's business partner, Tess Rafferty's mom, Katherine Yellin's sister, Elias Rowe's former employee, Jack Seller and Ex-wife Doreen claimed to received call from their dead son, Elwood Jupes's daughter who committed suicide.
The story evolved about a man who lose his wife, an old man who seeks forgiveness to his son, a child who was waiting for a phone call from his mom and the real desire of each person in life.
The book teaches us that what we see is not what we really get. There are wonders that Earth itself can't provide the answers, people believe in things they wanted to believe and do not in things they don't. We seek answers in questions that no one can provide an answer. That is human nature. We're curious then we unconsciously find ourselves craving for answers.
As usual Albom's work involved faith. There's a quotation in the book and maybe one of my all time favorites, and it is stated there that "What is false about hope?" This is what Horace replied to Sullivan when he told him "You're giving them false hope." I remember reading a post too saying that hope is evil, we just mistake it as something good, it whispers to our ears saying good things and from there people build up hope, when we breakdown and lose confidence, hope helps us by saying that we can still make it and according to that post it is evil, hope is evil, since it gives as false pretense. If you are into Greek mythology you probably heard about pandora's box and having hope left inside it. It appears that in the myth we humans are lacking "hope"as to how I see it pandora's box exist in all of us. We release evil things, and these evil things influence us but we usually forget that hope was left in us and because of the influence of the external environment we often forget on what's left inside us. We ignore it until we need it.
Whatever you believe in is up to you. I have my own beliefs too. I believe that religion is just like all these several universities that exist around the world. We study in these universities and get the learning we choose schools that we believe will bring the best in us. That is how religion is. We end up learning the same things but the methods of learning are different. It depends on the universities we chose to end up with, but in the end all of the things we believe in lies in a single point and if it's into religion we will all end up knowing about God. If you're to ask me about faith and religion, I'd love to tell you that there is no one real religion as to how there is no real phone call from those 9 people involved in the book. All of the religions are true, God let them be it for us to have the freedom to choose which congregation we are most comfortable to learn about Him. It is not all about the religion, it is all about the faith, and your communication with Him.
