House of Hades

I just finished reading the 4th book of the series: Heroes of Olympus and well, just like the preceding books of the series, it was great!

There are turns of events you'd never expect, and! I'm here to name some, so if you're not into I'm-so-curious-I-want-to-know-what-happened-before-I-read-the-book mode stop reading this post. And! and! What I'll mention are my top 3 favorite parts of the book (so far, I think those are my favorites scenes.) (Let's have it from my least to my most favorite) So! Here it goes!
***(Not all of these might sound amazing to you but, they're my favorite parts, if ever you finished reading the book too, you can share to me your personal favorite parts too!)

3. Bob the Titan

Percy and Annabeth fell in to Tartarus (the realm of the god of the pit, well "realm" wouldn't be the best choice of word to describe it because they actually fell into the body of Tartatus himself.)They landed in the river cocytus the river of lamentation bla-bla-bla, and well they need to survive since they are in tartarus the place where the titans and giants suffer eternal punishment (the place keeps them alive), well, it is so much different from the underworld (at least the underworld sounds better than the pit), you could say it's the worst and I don't plan on elaborating it even more since, what's the point of reading the book by now right? So then, let's skip to the story where in they met Bob the titan, well his name wasn't really Bob, according to what was mentioned Bob was defeated by Nico, Percy, and Thalia. Well, the titan was "defeated" not by means of "killing" instead, his memories were washed by the river lethe in the underworld, bla-bla-bla, and now Bob, serves as a janitor in the realm of Hades, which is well, so far Percy didn't expect, you could say he left him under the care of god of the underworld but they didn't expect that the god will make Bob an underworld cleaner. So while Percy and Annabeth were walking through the ruins of tartarus while following a group of empousa (vampires, or... whatever, as in blood-sucking-ancient-girls-who-lure-guys-by-their-beauty-and-suck-their-bloods-to-death) Annabeth suddenly asked about the "titan" Percy fought together with Nico and Thalia, and Percy answered like 'who? Iapetus' (something like that) but then Annabeth asked the name Percy gave him after the titan's memories were washed and Percy replied "Bob". Bob came, I mean yes, Iapetus, or Bob whichever came since "Percy called for him" is what he kept on saying, Percy needs him, Percy called his name and ta-da! A titan came to their aid. There were a lot of adventures together with Bob, since without him, I doubt Percy and Annabeth will survive, maybe that's why Riordan added him suddenly to the story, and also Damasen, well it has something to do with the "foes bears arms to the doors of death" part of the prophecy. (Read the book!)

"...tell the sun and the stars hello for me."

Lesson: It takes a lot of courage to do good, even our own sacrifices are needed for the success of the others. We sometimes have to set aside our own dreams for the others dreams in life to come true first, but that doesn't mean our journey stops there. We have our own path, and well, everybody should be aware that the right things happen at the right time and in the right place. We should just be patient and do our best to survive.
2. Calypso of Ogygia

We all remember Calypso, I guess? Percy was washed on her island remember? On the 4th book of Percy Jackson & The Olympians "The Battle of the Labyrinth" and as we ALL KNOW, Calypso fell in love with Percy. (As what was said gods sends heroes Calypso can't help falling in love with, right?) Well, I guess it's not just a coincidence but this time on book 4 of The Heroes of Olympus Leo was the one who landed in Ogygia after Khione, what?, blew him? or something with the cold winds, I don't remember but it has something to do with the wind, yes. In the end Calypso fell in love to Leo, even if she said that having Leo there was an insult (that's painful) when they first met (After Leo broke her dining table). Well, in the end she fell in love with Leo. Looking at Leo's personality I think it's not impossible for her to fall in love actually, he may not really look good but he's got the talent and the humor and all that tinkering abilities! Come on who wouldn't fall for someone like that?!

Lesson: We all see the physical part of every people first, which is I guess,  pretty much normal, but what is not normal is, we tend to judge them by just like that. Give them the chance to introduce themselves first. We miss a lot of good people since we believe in whatever we see, but if ever we had the chance, at least let them open themselves even more to us before we judge them. Because, there's plenty of beautiful things in the world that are not seen because we keep on having a blind eye on it. Sometimes, what we are looking for is right in front of us and we tend to ignore it.

1. Nico di Angelo

And! Behold, the greatest news of all: Nico had a crush on Percy. That's all. Well, in the previous book Percy thought that Nico had a crush on Annabeth but well, it was revealed that, well, Nico likes Percy. Which is not surprising. Well I love both Percy and Nico, there's just a lot of things to love about them. Percy, was Nico's hero, sure, he wasn't successful saving Bianca, but deep within Nico, he knows Percy did try. Nico on the other hand did a lot of things for Percy too, he convinced his dad to help fight together with the halfbloods during the battle at Manhattan and told Bob that Percy is a friend, to name some. Sure, Percy don't really understand what goes on on Nico's mind since the kid just come and go and he believes that he doesn't belong anywhere but it was revealed that HE HAD A CRUSH ON PERCY... oh, that's why (Percy will forever think that Nico just feels he doesn't fit in). He tried to avoid his feelings because he knew it's wrong. He tried to deny it to himself. (Or at least that's how I see it because he was so uneasy when he faced Cupid; which is now I realized he really did, since I remember that Cupid said something like 'you faced it now'; meaning Nico faced his "feelings" for Percy) He hated himself and Percy and he was jealous of Annabeth.

Nico, expresses his love well, especially to her half sister Hazel, I just love how he cares for her, really. I guess that's how he really is. It's not like he looks out for Hazel because she reminded him of Bianca but because, well, at least I believe, he liked Hazel as Hazel not Bianca (And if I remember it correctly he told Hazel that she likes her as she is on the 2nd book Son of Neptune). And I'm sure that's how Hazel likes it, she wants Nico to recognize her as who she is. Not just some replacement for Bianca di Angelo.
Lesson: There are a lot of forms of expressing love and avoiding the person you love if you know it's for the better is one. We make sacrifices and do big choices because we know what's right from what is wrong. In the end we always want to see the people we love contended with their lives. Love is, well just like what Eros said in the book page 292, "Oh, I wouldn't say love always makes you happy." which is true right? Even if Eros himself really exist, I guess he would say that. Since practically love takes sacrifices.

I hoped you enjoyed reading my short review/teaser/spoiler/whatever-you-like-to-call-it! Until next time! Ciao ~
